Justice is delayed by a day, but Barbudans expect Magistrates Court to sit on Tuesday,  sources report

Barbudans experienced a one-day delay of justice yesterday, September 28, when the unavailability of funds for travel reportedly pushed back the sitting of the Magistrates Court. 

According to sources, a magistrate and clerk were expected to travel to the sister-island in time to start the quarterly sitting on Monday.  However, the sources allege that the money for their airfares and accommodation was not made available in time.

Therefore, their departure is now expected to take place on Tuesday morning. 

If this week had been lost, the sources explain, Barbudans with matters before the Court would likely have had to wait until the next sitting, in December, for their cases to be heard or continued.  Hence, they are relieved to learn that Court should be in session today. 

One source says this delay should be blamed on poor planning by those holding the purse, as he notes that there was no hitch for persons who recently traveled to Barbados – reportedly at the Government’s expense – to watch franchise cricket.
