A Police source has confirmed that divers from the Antigua and Barbuda Coast Guard will be deployed tomorrow morning, Saturday, July 18, following a report of human remains in waters east of the Parham Dock.

On Friday night, July 17, a Facebook post went into wide circulation, as the True Crimes Antigua page alleged that there were some bodies in chains while others had been shackled to concrete objects.

The post alleged that the sighting had been reported to the Police since Monday and no investigation had commenced since – and the Police source confirmed that a report had, indeed, been received, but did not say when or who had made it.

However, according to the Facebook post, an unnamed source claimed that “some Canadian researchers who were studying the reefs”  had also been on the dive when the bodies were seen.

These allegations have shaken members of the public given the many disappearances of mostly young men over the past few years.

It has long been speculated that the bodies of these missing persons had been dumped at sea – particularly after a human left leg was found in shallow waters at Yeptons Beach, in April 2024, with the Police and Coast Guard reportedly finding other body parts in that location.

It is not known whether the promised forensic investigation was actually carried out and the remains identified. However, it was reported that this was the fourth finding of body parts near that beach over the years.

Meanwhile, other skeptical persons are discrediting the report on the basis that no photographs of these allegedly chained bodies had been taken.  Others argue that sea creatures and the action of the water would have destroyed any remains and rendered such a watery graveyard impossible to find.
