Russia has threatened a new round of strikes against Kyiv and has urged foreign nationals and diplomats to leave the Ukrainian capital as quickly as possible, escalating pressure days after one of the largest recent aerial assaults on the city.
Moscow says future attacks will focus on decision-making centres, command posts and drone-related sites. Ukraine has answered that the warning amounts to open intimidation, arguing that Russia is using fear as another instrument of war.
Diplomatic pressure and battlefield pressure
The warning matters because it reaches beyond military targets and directly touches the foreign diplomatic community. Ukraine says that makes the message less about battlefield necessity and more about forcing governments and institutions to feel personally exposed in the capital.
The broader result is a sharper sense of instability around Kyiv at a time when allies are again weighing what more they are willing to do to sustain Ukrainian defences and political support.
