The American University of Antigua has deepened its commitment to education in the twin-island nation with a classroom resource donation to the Antigua and Barbuda College of Advanced Studies, arriving at a pivotal moment for an institution on the verge of launching one of its most ambitious academic programmes.

ABCAS received a donation of whiteboards and flip charts from AUA during a handover ceremony on Thursday, June 4, 2026. The items were presented by representatives of AUA and form part of the ongoing collaboration between the two institutions. The resources will be distributed across ABCAS campuses to support teaching, training, and student engagement, with particular value to the School of Agriculture as it prepares to launch its Associate Degree in Agriculture programme in the upcoming academic year.

A School of Agriculture Taking Shape

The timing of the donation is significant. ABCAS is on course to launch a full suite of agricultural programmes at its School of Agriculture in September, as refurbishment and restructuring works at the former Glanvilles Secondary School advance toward completion. The school is currently offering short courses aimed at equipping participants with practical agricultural skills, with students having already showcased produce from their training — including fruits, vegetables, and eggs.

Institutional Appreciation

ABCAS President Dr. E. Jonah Greene expressed appreciation and joined Minister of Education the Honourable Daryll S. Matthew in thanking AUA for its continued support of education and training in Antigua and Barbuda. "ABCAS values the strong relationship we have developed with AUA. We are thankful for their continued support and look forward to building on this partnership as we work to create even greater opportunities for learners," Dr. Greene said.

The partnership between AUA — one of the Caribbean's leading medical universities — and ABCAS reflects a growing culture of institutional collaboration in Antigua and Barbuda's education sector, bringing private sector academic resources into direct service of national development priorities. As ABCAS prepares to enrol its first cohort of agriculture degree students in September, every resource that strengthens the learning environment is a step toward the food security and agricultural resilience goals that the programme is ultimately designed to serve.
