A four-member delegation from the Antigua and Barbuda Fire Service attended the 2026 Caribbean Fire Chiefs Conference in Bridgetown, Barbados, representing the twin islands at the region's premier fire service leadership gathering.
The biennial conference, hosted by the Caribbean Fire Service Association (CFSA), brings together fire chiefs and senior officers from 26 Caribbean territories to discuss shared challenges in fire prevention, emergency response, and training standards.
Training Agreements
Senior Divisional Officer Marcus Clarke, who led the Antiguan delegation, said the conference produced two concrete agreements for Antigua: a bilateral training exchange programme with the Barbados Fire Service, and access to a new regional firefighting simulator platform funded by the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA).
Clarke said Antigua would host a CDEMA-funded urban search and rescue training exercise in September 2026, which will see teams from six Caribbean territories train together at the YASCO Complex.
