The National Youth Parliament Association of Antigua and Barbuda has completed its electoral process for the new term, rounding out a full Executive Committee and naming eight Youth Members of Parliament who will represent constituencies across the nation in the coming months.

Executive Committee Now Complete

Following the earlier election of President Ezekiel Francois, Recruitment and Mobilization Officer Jordyn Roberts, Projects and Events Manager Lorianna Richards, and Financial Secretary Janiyah Winston, members convened to elect the remaining officers of the Association. Elected to serve are Rainer Santos Mercado as Vice President, Romario Hughes as General Secretary, Lutrell John as Public Relations Officer, and Esther Mckenzie as External Affairs Officer.

Eight Constituencies Get Youth MPs

The Association also proudly announced the election of its Youth Members of Parliament, who will represent constituencies across Antigua and Barbuda while advancing the voice and interests of young people through parliamentary debate, advocacy, and civic engagement.

The elected Youth MPs are: Johanna Jacobs (St. Mary’s North), Cyniya Ireland (All Saints West), Celine Edwards (All Saints East and St. Lukes), Jawan Jackson (St. Philip’s North), Chrysean Jarvis (St Johns Rural South), Alton Alcendor (St. Johns Rural West), Daniel Taylor (St. Paul), and Leanna Browne (St. John’s City South). Youth Caretakers will be appointed for the remaining constituencies at a later date.

President Francois Welcomes a Diverse, Talented Team

President Ezekiel Francois welcomed the completion of the electoral process, noting that the newly elected team reflects the talent, diversity, and commitment of Antigua and Barbuda’s youth. He expressed confidence that both the Executive Committee and Youth Parliamentarians will work collaboratively to strengthen the Association and expand opportunities for meaningful youth participation in national development.

Looking Ahead

NYPAAB extended its congratulations to all successful candidates and thanked every member who participated in the democratic process. The Association said it looks forward to a productive term focused on leadership development, civic engagement, policy discussion, and empowering the next generation of leaders.

The completion of the electoral process comes as President Francois pursues an ambitious seven-pillar development agenda for the organisation, including the expansion of the executive to its full complement of roles, the integration of the Barbuda Youth Council, and a recruitment drive set to begin at the end of June with orientations scheduled for mid-July.
