Antigua and Barbuda has released its National Artificial Intelligence Readiness Assessment Report, produced in collaboration with UNESCO and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), positioning the nation as a regional leader in digital governance and technology adoption.
The report — launched at a ceremony attended by Prime Minister Browne and the Minister of Information and Communication Technology — evaluates Antigua's AI readiness across five dimensions: digital infrastructure, human capital, data governance, institutional readiness, and ethical frameworks.
Key Findings
The assessment found that while Antigua scores strongly on connectivity infrastructure and government digital services, the country needs to accelerate AI curriculum integration in secondary and tertiary education. The report recommends the establishment of a National AI Centre of Excellence, to be hosted at the University of the West Indies Open Campus.
Prime Minister Browne welcomed the findings and announced that his newly-sworn government would make digital transformation and AI readiness a centrepiece of its Renaissance mandate over the next five years.
