The Vincentian national who struck national cyclist Tahjé Browne and fled the scene on Sir Sydney Walling Highway last week has pleaded guilty to all four charges brought against him — bringing a swift resolution to a case that gripped the nation and sparked a national conversation about road safety and hit-and-run driving.
Kishroy Harry of St Johnson’s Village appeared before Chief Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel in the St John’s Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, where he entered guilty pleas to dangerous driving, driving without the consent of the owner, driving without a driver’s licence, and driving without insurance.
Harry was remanded and is expected to return to court on July 1 for sentencing. He is represented by attorney Michael Archibald.
What Happened on June 20
The charges arise from an incident on June 20 on Sir Sydney Walling Highway, where Browne was struck by a vehicle near the Transport Board Inspection Centre during the early morning hours. The vehicle involved was a blue Toyota Vitz rental car, which was allegedly taken without the owner’s permission.
Harry was arrested the following day, June 21, after being intercepted at VC Bird International Airport while attempting to leave the country. Investigators had also alleged that he disposed of the clothing he wore at the time of the crash before attempting to depart.
