Prime Minister Gaston Browne was formally sworn in for his fourth consecutive term at a ceremony at the Governor-General's residence on Saturday, May 3, 2026, surrounded by party officials, cabinet appointees, and diplomatic representatives.

The new cabinet features a significant reshuffle, with Lionel "Max" Hurst returning to the tourism portfolio, Maria Bird-Browne taking over health and social transformation, and veteran minister E.P. Chet Greene retaining foreign affairs following his role in the recent Abu Dhabi embassy opening.

Key Appointments

The Ministry of Finance will see a new face with Michael Browne elevated to the portfolio, replacing the outgoing minister who had overseen the treasury bill programme on the Regional Government Securities Market. Economy watchers have welcomed the continuity in fiscal policy signalled by the PM's address.

"This government will focus relentlessly on economic transformation, infrastructure delivery, and improving the quality of life for every Antiguan and Barbudan," Prime Minister Browne said in his post-swearing-in address.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by representatives from the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), the United States Embassy, and regional diplomatic missions.
