A Saturday night triple-header at the Seatons Sporting Complex delivered three convincing victories and one standout individual performance, as the Antigua Generators/Cool & Smooth Village Netball League continued to gather momentum in the Female Division.
Bloomfield Leads Stingers to Third Straight Win
National player Tashana Bloomfield was in imperious form as she led Potters Defante Stingers to their third consecutive victory, a 43-35 triumph over a determined Grays Green Flyballers outfit. Bloomfield hit 30 of her 36 attempts, with Adina Andre providing solid support, converting 13 of her 21 attempts.
In a losing effort, national shooter Kizzy Hughes was outstanding for Flyballers, sinking 20 of her 28 attempts, while Krizia Duncan added 15 from 21. Despite their best individual efforts, the Flyballers could not match the collective efficiency that has made the Stingers the early pace-setters of the competition.
Prince and Lloyd Ruthless Again as Seatons Crush Talented Youths
In another clinical display, Shakora Prince made good on 32 of her 39 attempts as she powered Seatons Eastsiders to a crushing 54-10 triumph over St John's United Talented Youths — the team's second consecutive victory in the competition. Christina Lloyd was equally impressive alongside her, hitting 22 of her 30 attempts.
For Talented Youths, Trinecia Greenaway hit eight of her 12 attempts while Reneka Anthony picked up two from six — but the gulf in quality between the two sides was too wide to bridge on the night.
National U16s Outclass Willikies
The National Under-16 Team also maintained their winning run, defeating Willikies 26-6 in what was a comprehensive performance from the young national squad. Tina Graham led the way with 12 goals from 28 attempts, while Shaniya James made good on 10 of her 19 attempts and Makayla Scott converted four of her five. For Willikies, Summer Buckleys made five of her 14 attempts.
The results leave Potters Defante Stingers and Seatons Eastsiders as the two sides in the most commanding form through the opening rounds of the competition, with the Stingers' three consecutive wins marking them as the team to beat in the Female Division. The National U16s continue to impress as a testing ground for the island's emerging netball talent.
The Village Netball League continues this week at the Seatons Sporting Complex.
